CASEY Scorpions suffered a disappointing 18-point loss to Werribee in their Victorian Football League qualifying final last Sunday.
The Scorpions will now be desperate to avoid the same fate as last season when they bowed out of the finals with successive losses.
The minor premiers now face an elimination semi-final against Williamstown at Casey Fields on Saturday.
The Scorpions began their clash against the Tigers brightly and entered the first change with a 10-point lead. However, from that point on, the Brett Lovett-coached outfit booted just one more goal.
The Tigers kicked three second-quarter goals to take a nine-point margin into half-time with former North Melbourne forward Leigh Harding a solid contributor.
Defender Michael Riseley, midfielder James Magner and Luke Tynan played a significant part in the Scorpions eroding the margin to four points by the final change but the impressive Tigers kicked away in the final term to win 6.10 (46) to 3.10 (28).
The Scorpions are likely to regain several players for the clash against Williamstown, with senior affiliate Melbourne finishing its season on Saturday.
