THE opening of the next part of Westfield Fountain Gate is just over a fortnight away.
The $320 million upgrade of the Narre Warren shopping centre will be good for workers as well as shoppers, with between 800 and 1000 jobs to be created when stage two of the redevelopment opens on September 20.
More than 90 of these will be at the new Fenix Fitness Club, which has already signed up more than 1500 members.
The club will cover more than 4200 square metres and will be the fitness chain’s largest centre to date.
At present there are 11 full-time staff working in the centre, and the September 24 opening will create positions in administration, reception, childcare, personal training and group fitness.
Stage two of the Fountain Gate redevelopment, scheduled to open at 9am on September 20, will have retailers such as Witchery, Cue and Nike.
Westfield regional manager Tim Broxham said the launch would bring some of Australia’s best-known fashion brands, and a few international favourites as well, to the centre.
“The new Myer store will also house collections from Australian designers such as Nicola Finetti, Leona Edmiston and Wayne Cooper. These will complement our existing fashion retailers such as Sportsgirl, Bardot and Wittner.”
