Singleton hospital elevator out of action

June 1, 2018 by admin

WORK starts tomorrow, to install a new elevator at Singleton Hospital.

While people will still be able to use the internal stairs to move between floors, the elevator will be out of use for the next month.

Singleton Health Service manager Wendy Mason-Jones said this would mean some temporary changes for people who would normally use the elevator to access wards and clinic rooms on the hospital’s lower ground floor.

Temporary access for lower ground floor will be via the entry doors near the pathology unit on the Boonal Street side of the hospital.

Access for the emergency department, imaging, maternity, surgical unit and other services on the top floor of the hospital will continue to be via the main front entrance.

“Once it is in place, the new elevator will provide more comfortable and reliable access between floors,” Ms Mason-Jones said.
