Ripples swim club finished 11th out of 122 at state short court age titles

Thirty-one swimmers from Ripples St Marys Swim Club competed with distinction at the NSW Short Course Age Championships held at SOPAC, Homebush over 24th-26th August, taking out 11th place out of 122 in the state for the club.

Individual medallists included Maniah Betham (13), Molly McNamara (15), Nathan Robinson(13), Jarred Wright (12), Cameron McElroy (15) and Dezmond Malone (15). Maniah Betham gained silver in the 200m Freestyle in a time of 2.00.45 and the 100m Freestyle in 55.43. Maniah also took the bronze medal place in the 200m Individual Medley with a time of 2.18.52

Molly McNamara also took home silver and bronze, with her second place in the 200m Butterfly in a time of 2.17.33 and 3rd in 100m Butterfly in 1.02.19. Nathan Robinson placed second in the 400m Individual Medley in a time of 5.00.61 and Jarred Wright also took silver in the 200m Breaststroke in 2.42.91.

Dezmond Malone and Cameron McElroy swam to bronze medal placings, Dezmond in the 100m Backstroke with a time of 1.00.96 and Cameron swam 24.36 in the 50m Freestyle just touching out team mate Cameron Slaughter by 0.05 seconds. The Boys 4x100Freestyle relay team, including Dezmond Malone, Dylan Betham, Cameron McElroy and Cameron Slaughter also swam to second place in their event and the Boys 4 x 100 Medley relay team, comprised of Dylan Betham, Harrison Gregory, Cameron Slaughter and Cameron McElroy took 3rd place.

Ripples St Marys maintained its high place in the state rankings as throughout the meet a number of Ripples St Marys swimmers placed in the Top Ten of their events, including Joshua Baker, Dylan Betham, Maniah Betham, Jessica Grant, Dezmond Malone, Cameron McElroy, Molly McNamara, Mathew Robinson,Nathan Robinson, Cameron Slaughter, and Jarred Wright. Head Coach Jenny Pilgrim was impressed with the team’s performance saying that “it has been a tough season, the swimmers have shown great dedication to training over the winter months and this result is a true testament to the effort they have put in”.

Other team members competing over the weekend included Emily Flaxman, Phillip Baker,Joshua Smith, Thomas Norton, Aydan Houis, Ryan Gregory, Brownyn Stockley, Abbey Slaughter, Casey Bury Holly Sparks, Lucy Harris, Jared Malone, Jarrod McBain, Judith McBain, and Kayley James. Swimmers who achieved Personal Best times included Lucy Harris, Abbey Slaughter, Casey Bury, Ryan Gregory, Thomas Norton, Phillip Baker.
