Historic day: The Queen and then NSW Premier Neville Wran opened Mt Druitt Hospital on October 11, 1982.
A TRIP down memory lane launched Mount Druitt Hospital’s 30th anniversary last week. More than 150 people attended The Faces of Mount Druitt, a series of photos from the hospital’s early days of construction through to the present. The photos are on show near the entrance.
The longest serving staff member, surgeon Mac Wyllie, said the original values were still part of the hospital’s fabric.
A commemorative dinner will be held at Rooty Hill RSL Club on October 11 — 30 years to the day since the hospital was opened by the Queen and premier Neville Wran.
The cost of the three-course meal and drinks is $70 and proceeds go back to the hospital.
‘‘Our goal is for 400 people to attend,’’ said Blacktown-Mount Druitt Hospital director of operations, Rhonda Loftus told the Star.
A community family day is on October13 in the hospital grounds.
‘‘The hospital has earned its right to be part of the community in providing a service which keeps with what the community needs,’’ Mrs Loftus said.
‘‘Patients receive care as good as they’ve experienced anywhere else.’’
