AN ENGADINE man, 20, will remain in custody until he faces court in October after a series of armed robberies in Sutherland Shire.
Sutherland police arrested the man at a Sutherland service station on August 21 after he allegedly tried to rob an Engadine business half an hour before.
Police seized a number of items in a car which they say will link him to three armed and attempted armed robberies earlier this month.
It is alleged that the robbery spree began on August 2 when an offender used a knife with which to rob a 7-Eleven conven-ience store on the Kingsway at Cronulla.
Two days later police will allege the same man robbed a BP service station at Engadine on the Old Princes Highway, assaulting an employee but leaving empty-handed after threatening to use a knife.
On the same day they allege he tried to rob a convenience store on Woronora Road, Engadine, and assaulted an employee.
Police charged the 20-year-old with three counts of assault with intent to rob while armed with an offensive weapon, and one count of robbery armed with an offensive weapon.
He was refused bail and is due before Central Local Court on October 18.
