Members of the Indigenous Social Justice Association gathered at the Kogarah Town Centre forecourt this afternoon to protest against the treatment of a Bexley man at the hands of police.
Freedom of information records obtained by Labor MP Walt Secord found that the man, 84, (in a report at smh苏州美甲学校.au) was armed with a Stanley knife and suffered from dementia when he was shot with a Taser by police.
Ray Jackson, president of the association, said he did not know whether the Bexley man was Indigenous or not, but that his group would go wherever they felt police injustice had occurred.
‘‘Whenever these things happen, we will be there,’’ he said.
‘‘We are not going to allow police to feel comfortable whenever they do the wrong thing.
‘‘It’s as simple as that.’’
