RESIDENTS in Liverpool are being asked by Endeavour Energy to help save lives and limit power outages by reporting suspicious activity around the electricity network to Crime Stoppers.
The warning comes after a man received severe burns to 50 per cent of his body after breaking through fencing to allegedly steal copper from Endeavour Energy’s electricity network.
“Stealing copper from the electricity network is a dangerous crime that risks serious injury and severe penalties,” said Endeavour Energy’s general manager health and safety David Neville.
“The public should not have to tolerate this crime. Your call can potentially save someone’s life as well as help prevent copper theft.”
Mr Neville said any suspicious activity – whether it be around a street light, power pole or substation – can be reported to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
