The 16-year-old was called up to the under-19s all schools squad following her championship title win with NSW at last month’s School Sport Australia tournament in Townsville.

“I was sick all tournament so I was shocked to get a national call-up,” Stephanie said.

The tall centre back said she was happy just to make the NSW squad for the first time, let alone being picked for the green and gold and getting the chance to represent her country.

“I’ve always wanted to go to South America and this trip will be a great experience to test myself against some skillful and tricky opponents,” she said.

The schoolgirl squad will visit Argentina and Brazil during a two-week tour, which will include a visit to Argentinian football legend Diego Maradonna’s former club Boca Juniors.

“Our team will learn a lot and get to see some amazing things on our trip,” Stephanie said.

“I hope we’ll get to see a Boca game while we’re visiting.”

Stephanie’s club form for the North West Sydney Koalas this year has also been impressive.

Already playing first-team reserves, Stephanie has cemented a spot in the Koalas backline and helped guide them to a second place finish in the NSW Premier League.

The Koalas face Manly in the semi-finals for a shot at this year’s grand final.
