BORN and bred in Newcastle, retiring Eels legend Luke Burt will always call Newcastle home. But he will never be a Knights boy.
“For me, coming from Newcastle, I will always say I’m a Newie boy, but I’ll never say I’m a Knights boy,” Burt said.
“I’m a Parramatta Eel through and through.”
His love of the blue and gold jersey is one of the main reasons that have endeared him to the blue and gold army since he made his debut in 1999.
Back then his golden locks and surfie boy image were all the rage.
Today, he stands as one of the most respected players in the NRL.
“It has been an honour to play for a club like Parramatta for so long,” he said.
