Labor Prime Minister Julia Gillard’s campaign style of say anything to get elected has found its way to the Penrith City Council elections judging by John Thain’s confused media release, North ward Liberal Councillor Ross Fowler claimed.

“Penrith has not had a Liberal elected Mayor since 1974,” Ross Fowler said.

“Over the last three terms of Council there have been seven Labor Mayors and John was one of them, so I can understand their desperation,” Ross Fowler added.

In action reminiscent of the former State Labor Government, Penrith Labor Councillors have shown they will say anything to hold on to power.

“They have accused our team of supporting developments that don’t exist.

“We support the long standing residential strategy of Penrith Council.

“That Strategy doesn’t support 25,000 homes in Orchard Hills and nor do we,” Ross Fowler said.

Tricia Hitchen, liberal thinking independent for East Ward, said Labor are promising roads they have no chance of improving without Barry O’Farrell’s support.

“Liberal Councillor Ross Fowler has been advocating for the Jane Street extension for years. It took the election of Stuart Ayres and the Liberal State Government to actually get it on the agenda.

“They have now stooped to new lows by saying nuclear waste will go to Kemps Creek.

“Not even in its darkest days did Kristina Keneally get this bad.

Bernard Bratusa, candidate for South Ward, said the fact is Penrith is going nowhere under a Labor led council and that is why we need new leadership.

“Are Labor candidates auditioning for the sequel to Channel Nine’s Howzat series?

“Shane Warne would be proud of the spin Thain and his Labor colleagues are tossing out to voters. To make Penrith Number one again they should be hitting Labor over the boundary on September 8,” Bernard Bratusa said.
