Positive living

April 28, 2018 by admin

A home should always be a positive and inspiring place for the whole family.

If a home is cluttered, unorganised, or the interior design and objects of that room are positioned in a way that creates negative energy, it could effect the lifestyle of everyone who lives in the home.

Your Home interviewed Feng Shui expert Elizabeth Wiggins from Feng Shui Living about creating positive and motivating energy in the home through Feng Shui.

Here is some of her wise, yet very practical, advice.

¦ What is Feng Shui?

Feng Shui is a way of understanding how energy (Qi) moves in our surroundings and how our buildings, their interiors, and our environment effect us.

By applying Feng Shui to your surroundings you find that you have opportunities to improve every aspect of your life.

¦ What is positive and negative Feng Shui?

Positive Feng Shui invites opportunities to improve people’s lives whereas negative Feng Shui may attract negative opportunities or actually little or no opportunities to improve their lives.

¦ What are your steps to creating positive Feng Shui in the home?

Clear your clutter.

From a wealth perspective, look at the entrance — is it inviting, welcoming or are there broken pavers, dead plants.

When focusing on health and relationships look at the bedroom — have your bed against a solid wall when sleeping, make sure nothing is stored under the bed as you may absorb this stagnant Qi while sleeping.

Make it a place of relaxation rather than activity.

¦ How can people create negative energy in the home?

Clutter would have to be the main issue; the other two issues are how water features and the colour red are used.

Both of these elements will have an impact on the energy in the area they are located in.

That is great if it is positive but if not it could be a real problem. If you notice things start to go wrong after placing a water feature or the colour red in an area of the house, then move it.

¦ What is your procedure, from first seeing the home to implementing Feng Shui?

The majority of my consultations are now remote so I actually don’t need to visit the property.

That being said the property must be able to be viewed from Google Earth which allows me to see the surrounding landforms and also ensure a very accurate compass reading.

In addition to this the age of the house is required as well as a floor plan drawn to scale.

With this information I am able to ascertain the Feng Shui of the property and advise the occupants on how to enhance the positive energy and harmonise the negative energy.

¦ Once you have shown homeowners how to create positive energy, how can they keep that positive energy coming?

Once a consultation is conducted the information remains valid for many years however there are annual energies that should be taken into account at the beginning of each Chinese New Year and all of my clients obtain annual updates to ensure they are aware of what they may experience in the coming year and what they can do to alleviate any issues.
