Eight sites across the Mid North Coast will simultaneously launch the Mid North Coast Local Health District (MNCLHD) 2012-2016 Strategic Plan tomorrow.

Video conferencing will be used to connect Governing Board Members, staff and Community Reference Group membersat hospitals, health campuses and community health centres at Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie, Kempsey, Wauchope, Macksville, Bellingen and Dorrigo on Wednesday, September 5.

MNCLHD chief executive, Stewart Dowrick, said the simultaneous launch of the Strategic Plan at various sites across the District signified the strong culture of collaboration which has existed since the formation of the Local Health District in 2011.

“Bringing board members, staff, and community representatives together for this special occasion, while utilising our video conferencing technology, is a great way to celebrate teamwork and a new era of planning for the MNCLHD,” Mr Dowrick said.

The formulation of the Strategic Plan follows a series of consultation meetings involving around 200 community representatives, managers, clinicians and staff from across the Mid North Coast local Health District.

MNCLHD Governing Board Chair, Warren Grimshaw AM, said the Governing Board was confident the Strategic Plan would provide an excellent framework within which to further develop quality and safe health services for the community.

“We are extremely proud of our district and look forward to working closely with our communities and staff to achieve the Strategic Directions outlined in this plan,” Mr Grimshaw said.

Strategic Priorities and Initiatives in Community, Population Health, Service Access and Patient Flow, Safety and Quality, Finance and Management, and People and Culture are key focus areas of the Strategic Plan, which also outlines challenges facing the MNCLHD into the future.

“Over the next five years, MNCLHD will need to ensure planning and service provision is aligned to meeting the needs of our ageing and diverse population, whilst enhancing our out-of-hospital services,” Mr Grimshaw said.

The MNCLHD covers a geographic area from Red Rock near Woolgoolga in the north to Passionfruit Creek in the south, and extends west to the Great Dividing Range where it shares a border with the Hunter New England Local Health District. It includes the Local Government Areas of Bellingen, Coffs Harbour, Nambucca, Kempsey and Port Macquarie-Hastings.
